Tain II Landscape Restoration Programme

In collaboration with Form International, Form Ghana is has been implementing the Forest Landscape Restoration Programme for Forest Reserve Tain II from 2017 until 2021. This programme promoted the restoration of natural forests and increased productivity of agricultural land in order to improve the livelihood of the communities surrounding the Tain II Forest Reserve.

Land use planning became more effective by installation of a landscape governance board that brought key stakeholders together such as the Forestry Commission, the traditional authorities, municipal assemblies, combined with farmer representatives.

By organizing and supporting farmers on establishment of agroforestry production systems and marketing the produce, a significant income for farmers was generated and the land around Tain II Forest Reserve was brought under permanent management. This led to reduced degradation by wildfires outbreaks in the region.
