Mans Vroom

Personal background

Mans Vroom studied College for Wood Technology and several Forestry Courses such as Silviculture, Forest Management and Wood Technology. Mr. Vroom has more than 35 years of experience as a manager in forest management in West- and Central Africa and in South America. He has lived and worked in Ghana for 18 years. He was project leader for Sustainable Forest Management/ Wildlife Management Project in Gabon, as implemented by the Wildlife Conservation Society, Tropical Forest Foundation and the Gabonese Ministry of Environment and Forestry. Mr. Vroom has been providing technical assistance to companies in preparation of Certification in Ukraine, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Gabon, British Guyana, Indonesia, Canada and Sweden. Mr. Vroom is also a qualified auditor for FSC.

  • Tropical Forest Foundation Gabon. Composition of a set of training modules and establishment of a RIL training centre
  • Reports on management assistance in Sustainable Forest Management and Reduced Impact Logging in Ghana, Gabon, Brazil, Congo and Cameroon, funded by CDE/EU
  • Feasibility studies, management assistance and technical assistance to (mainly) companies in the field of timber certification in Central and West Africa, Guyana and Ukraine for companies, UNDP, FSC, Keurhout
  • Establishment of a Forest Plantation Pilot Project, Ghana following a feasibility study and training of staff through workshops
